One of the several proposed design ideas to improve the pedestrian environment along Lincolnway is to look at a three lane street cross section. Currently, Lincolnway has a five/four lane configuration. Reducing the number of travel lanes provides additional space for sidewalks, wider travel lanes and parking area. It also reduces the distance that a pedestrian has to cover in order to cross Lincolway. However, traffic analysis indicates that changing the lanes configuration could amount to an additional two minutes of delay while travelling through the downtown area.
