The improved sidewalk on Pershing is fantastic, and has greatly increased safety and comfort for both pedestrians and drivers. A remaining issue, however, is plowing the snow. Sometimes the snow in places is days or even weeks old. I have the luxury of driving when it's nasty, but our students don't. Our kids should be able and encouraged to walk or bike to school, especially if it's only a few blocks. The fence in front of the VA can act like a snow fence causing pedestrians to trudge through large drifts-- sometimes clinging to the fence. And unfortunately, there are no alternative routes in this particular area. I realize that the weather in Cheyenne is out of anyone's control. However, there are places that get as much snow and wind as us that manage to be pedestrian friendly.
